Playstation 3 Installtions – A Mild Rant

OK, so I just posted about Sleeping Dogs.  I’ve been imagining how awesome this game is going to be, in my head.  I waited over an hour to download and install, had family time, worked on some blog posts then sat down to try this game out.  That was almost a half hour ago!  I’ve got this mantra when it comes to playing anything on the PS3…  You want to play something?  Here, install this patch!

I just downloaded the game from Sony’s servers.  Don’t you think that they would have the newest version available to you when you download initially?  If I wanted to play games in the key of PC, I would be playing on a PC!  I know that this happens on the other current gen consoles, too, but it seems to be a huge issue on the PS3.

Sleeping Dogs isn’t even that bad.  It was just over 7 gigs (Just going off memory… didn’t really look at the actual size) on the install and the patch was almost a gig.  Who went through the download hell that is known as DC Universe Online? 🙁  What sucks is that this won’t be the last we’ll see of this rampant issue.  Why can’t we have a complete game on a cartridge anymore?  I miss 16-bit gaming…
