The original G.I. Joe series 2 1983 released Cobra H.I.S.S. Tank was one of my favorite toys I had in my younger years as it and the driver were regular foes of my original team of action figures that were on hand back then.
To this day I have some great memories of that tank and it always sits nicely in my mind of toys of my youth I should someday have again(but to be honest the 1989 series 8 w/Track-Viper version is more so on my “wanted list” than the 83′ one is).
Imagine my surprise running across the 30th Anniversary release of the H.I.S.S. Tank at my local Toys R’ Us store which has been void of anything G.I. Joe for months so it was decided I needed to have it on the Cosmic Ark(been wanting to add some Joe vehicles to my mix of things).
After I got it home and opened the box up and put it together and took a good look at it’s driver “Cobra Crimson Horsemen” which I was pleased to see was more articulated than the newer released “Retaliation” vehicle drivers which lack such things to which I assume was toy maker’s Hasbro way to help keep costs down.
I did find one “goof ” in the box as my driver’s file card is wrong and belongs to a Cobra Air Trooper which is not a big deal but I would still like to have the one I was suppose to have to go with my action figure.
Also I have to complain about the fact that the dang thing comes with decals…..I hate decals! And in this day age I think they should just mold and or paint whatever should be on the toy but am sure this is no major deal for most but for me I just can’t stand them.
Anyway here is my set of pictures I took of it from when I opened box and started assembling it to the finished product which am very happy with(outside of those stupid decals which I tossed back into the box).
